We endeavor to express in our lives the Dominican motto: to praise, to bless, and to preach.
Change the World with Your Presence
Be who you were meant to be and you will change the world. ~ Catherine of Siena
Our patron St. Catherine of Siena wrote: “Be who you were meant to be and you will change the world.” Her message wasn’t just intended for vowed religious. It was intended to encourage and empower every individual.
Sisters of the Dominican Order of Preachers have spent lifetimes delving deeply into being present. Our desire is for our presence to nurture hope in the world. For hope is that aspect of faith which makes us certain that the world is cared for and loved by God. Hope obliges us to work toward the realization of the promises found in Jesus: freedom, peace, justice, and reconciliation.
Right Relationship
Inspired by the spirit of our founder St. Dominic de Guzmán, we join the worldwide Order of Preachers (OP) carrying out an 800-year mission: Love
Through ministry, community, study, and prayer we share Christ’s message — redemptive love that reflects God’s desire for a just world. Our hope is to continue opening ourselves to the power and presence of the Holy Spirit — and to be a flame of truth, love, hope, and mercy.
Dominic valued right relationship and these ideals help ground our Congregation’s mission to be in right relationship—with community, with family and friends, and with our Creator.
As Sisters, our life is lived in community. The Order of Dominicans is one of the world’s earliest examples of Democracy. Every six years, our Congregation holds elections to elect a new leadership team. This time is called Chapter. Chapter 2024 was a significant communal gathering for many reasons, including continuing to study directions for our Congregation.
Directions in Ministry
Our directions in ministry guide our Congregational Mission and Communal Life.
Public Statements
Who we are, what we stand for, and how we live our lives in Christ remain steadfast as we reflect and respond to the needs of our country and world at this time.
Our Leadership Team, on behalf of the Congregation, is compelled to respond to what we are witnessing around us. The decision to respond, and the content of our public statements align with our mission and values, and Catholic Social Teaching.
